Mark your calendars for the Catherine Theron 2-day workshop November 2-3. Catherine will be teaching the Alphabet Primer Pocket and the Wee Bunny Scissor Box. Descriptions and pictures for both classes follow:
Wee Bunny Scissor Box – Saturday, November2
Create a 2-3/4” x 1-3/4” x 1” box to house a lovely wee pair of scissors. Worked in silks & overdyed cotton threads on 30-count linen, this piece features a rabbit & foliage on the lid & a medallion pattern on the sides. Housed inside the box are a scissors sheath, scissor minder & a page for needles.
Stitches used are Petit Point, Chain, & Nun’s Stitch. Kit includes linen, threads, scissors, needle, charts & directions & most finishing supplies. There are 3 fabrics. One can be worked in hand, the other two should be on worked on stretcher bars.
Fabric sizes-9″ wide x 12 ” high and 9″ wide x 8″ high. F.A.Edmunds carries the smaller size stretcher bars. And they are available through Amazon, so I think that everyone who wants to be prepared, can be prepared! As usual. if someone doesn’t have the stretcher bars for class, she can stitch a bit, take notes, etc.
Fabric for the Bunny Box is cut 11″ wide x 9″ high. Again, stretcher bars would be ideal, or a scroll frame if that is what a student has on hand.

Alphabet Primer Pocket – Sunday, November 3
This 5-1/2” x 4” pocket houses a wee wooden hornbook that features a Quaker-style alphabet stitched on 40-count linen. The front of the pocket is covered with Florentine Stitch; the back features a Petit Point scene of colonial homes & rolling hills. Linens used are 40-count (for the hornbook), 32-count (for the front pocket), & 30-count (for the Petit Point scene). Threads used are DMC flosses, Gentle Arts over-dyed cottons, & various silks in a wide range of blues, greens, golds, reds, etc. Stitches used include Petit Point, Cross-Stitch Over One, Rice Stitch, Backstitch, & Nun’s Stitch. Kit includes 3 linens, all threads, interlining, wooden hornbook, needles, color copies, charts, directions, & finishing instructions.
