2016 brings us all an extra day of stitching! How have you spent your day? Me, I’m doing something stitching related, preparing this post for everyone to enjoy the lovely stitching of the Tudor Rose Sampler Guild members. Hopefully after I am finished, I can put a few stitches into my latest project. I hope you found some rewarding time to enjoy some stitching as well.
Here in Texas, we have pretty much skipped over winter and have moved right into spring. The trees are blooming and spring flowers are starting to make their appearances. Our extend wishes for spring weather to everyone who lives in areas of the country that are still experiencing frigid winter temperatures.
Also, during our February meeting, our lovely Betty H. provided finishing demonstrations for members who took part in our 2015 SAL of Catherine Theron’s Winter Strawberries Needleroll. Some members were already finished so you will get to see their lovely creations below.

I trust in nature for the stable laws of beauty and utility. Spring shall plant and autumn garner to the end of time.

One of our primary functions at Tudor Rose Sampler Guild is to learn about samplers and preserve their history. As a Guild, we look for opportunities to provide financial assistance to conservation groups who preserve antique samplers. In 2015, we issued a grant to Historic Deerfield, Inc. to preserve two samplers. Historic Deerfield, Inc. is a museum of New England history and decorative arts situated within the carefully preserved 354 year-old western Massachusetts village of Deerfield. The museumโs board approved mission is dedicated to the heritage and preservation of Deerfield, Massachusetts and the Connecticut River Valley. We are pleased to present the two samplers that have gone through the preservation process as a result of our grant.
It is a wonderful feeling to know that these two pieces of needlework will be able to be viewed by future generations.
Itโs spring fever. That is what the name of it is. And when youโve got it, you want โ oh, you donโt quite know what it is you do want, but it just fairly makes your heart ache, you want it so!
