June’s program was a stitch-in and specifically members were working on stitching bands for a special gift we were doing as a guild. Our wonderful Program Chair planned and designed a gift for the guild to present to the Presbytery as a thank you for their hospitality over the last several years. For those who haven’t been to the location, there is a long hallway on the way to our meeting room and on the wall is a large collection of crosses in various sizes and styles. Debbie thought it would be special for us to create something for that wall. Debbie found a large wooden cross and wanted to essentially create a band sampler to attach to the cross. She designed a number of sampler bands which were given out to the members to stitch.
Members were able to pick up a mystery bag that had a band pattern, fabric, and thread.
Here’s an example of one of the bands.
Can’t wait to see what this will look like when it’s complete! But before we got down to stitching, we did a little show & tell. Lots of good stuff this month!
Sarra stitched this as a model for The Stitch Niche.
Check out the perfectly spooky frame chosen for it!
Stitched by Vicki N. also as a model for The Stitch Niche.
And Nancy K. stitched this gorgeous piece as a model too.
Lynette C. finished her peacock on silk gauze from our previous program!
A finished and framed silk gauze peacock from our program stitched by Doris M.
I love how Betty has pulled one motif out of a larger sampler and framed it in this elaborate frame where it can shine.
(Excuse my lack of photography skills and this being so wonky – that’s all me, not Robert)
Well, that’s it for this time. We won’t meet in July, but our program for August will be WIPocalypse and MAGIC check-in to see how everyone’s doing on their WIPs. And there’s a rumor there may be prizes…
