Lazy Days of Summer

How did it ever get to be September? It seemed like the summer just flew by. And since we didn’t have a July meeting, our August meeting was a welcome highlight, a chance to get together with friends and talk about our favorite topic – stitching!

The August program was scheduled to be on Biscornu finishing, but due to schedules we ended up having a stitch in instead! We actually had a light turnout for the meeting, but there was no shortage of amazing finishes!

Take a look at what was brought for show and tell:

Cyndi’s amazing Catherine Theron piece, Morning Has Broken. And it’s beautifully framed. I am kicking myself for not taking this class at EGA Seminar when it was offered. Stunning!!! Cyndi has really been on a roll with her finishes lately!

Cyndi also brought in her Liberty Hill by Ewe & Eye & Friends. Perfect summertime stitching!

And finally, Cyndi also brought in her Celtic Alpha 22. I’m anxious to see what she does with this. It would be pretty just framed.

Deanne was also busy over the summer. Here’s her framed A Farmer’s Almanac by Prairie Schooler. I love the frame this is in.

Deanne’s Carriage House Samplings Live with Creatures that she personalized. Gorgeous frame on this one!

Michelle brought in her finished Isabella Johnstone 1854 sampler by Needlework Press that was in an issue of SANQ. Such a fun sampler!

Robert is another one that’s been busy over the summer. Here’s his beautiful Sarah Elizabeth Brooks by The Scarlett House. This is one of my favorites. It’s definitely on my “to stitch” list.

He also finished Christmas Garden by Blackbird Designs.

Ava shared this beautiful birthday gift stitched and finished by Kim. This is one of the Little House Needleworks ornaments (Quaker Birds), but she completely changed the color scheme. Isn’t is gorgeous?!

And Ava also shared a gift stitched and finished by Sylvia. Look at the cuteness! This is La Parisienne by Tra La La.

Sylvia finished it into a little wallet for your thread, scissors and needles. Love that grey fleur de lis fabric too!

Ava also received this cute felt candlemat that Stephanie made. The scottie kit is by Grab ‘N Go Kits by Michelle Civetti of My Quilting Service and is called Scottie Dogs. So cute!

And finally, Ava brought in this gorgeous finish. She stitched one of the Shepherd’s Bush stockings for a new addition to the family. I absolutely love this one! This is Jillian’s Stocking. One of these days Ava should bring in her whole collection of finished SB stockings – I think she’s done about fifteen!!

Well, that wraps up Show and Tell for August. For the number of people at the meeting, we sure had a bunch of finishes!!

Our September program will be the annual Stash Sale. 10% of the proceeds will go to the guild. Make sure you’ve got your items marked with your initials and a price. And don’t forget to bring your shopping money!!

See you on Tuesday!
