November 2024 Show & Tell

At the November meeting Cissy Bailey Smith of Gentle Pursuit Designs presented the TRSG holiday ornament she designed for us. This unusual design, produced especially for the Tudor Rose Sampler Guild, features cross stitch, Florentine stitch, and Nun stitch, as well as two different types of silk. The ornament is triangular and self-lined with a trap door on the back that allows the ornament to double as a scissor keeper. Cissy reviewed the instructions in detail, and gave some tips and tricks.

Here are some stitched pieces shared by members:

Stitched by Mariet N.: This is Pennsylvania Christmas deer on 36 ct Aztec by weeks dyeworks.
Stitched by Mariet N.: This is Adele lemmens a schoolgirl sample stitched on a 56 ct linen. I made it with my momโ€™s name and birth date with 100.3 in a beautiful red. Itโ€™s frame by me and I found the frame in an antique shop.
Stitched by Mary M.: Liberty for All by Stacy Nash a Dyeing to Stitch club kit. 36ct. R&R Patriot Brew with call for threads
Stitched by Shelly P.: Skeleton Tree Hanging Pinkeep by Stacy Nash Primitives, with letters from “Le Livre des Lettres” by Valerie Lejeune added. Over-dyed cotton flosses on 40-ct Zweigart linen in Flax.
Stitched by Ann B.: House on the Hill Shaker Carrier, designed by Merry Cox. It’s been aging in my stash for 25 years–a quarter of a century is. long enough to be a UFO! This is also on my MAGIC list.

December’s plans are to have a holiday ornament exchange. Each year members sign up to stitch and finish a holiday ornament for a secret someone. During this meeting each ornament will be shown along with the reveal of their secret stitcher. This is a really fun evening even if you choose not to participate in the exchange. You will go away being enabled!
